Named the Mayfair, the striking lamp took 3 months to make in the company’s artisan workshops near Wimborne Minster in Dorset. Designed in collaboration with the Charity organisers, the lamp is expected to fetch c£20,000. Other one-off pieces have been acquired for super yachts and luxury homes. The colour of the handblown glass body was created to replicate the Caudwell Children colours. Two glassblowers working in unison were then able to lace the glass with sterling silver.
Beth Nash from Alexander Joseph, said “We think the glass body is probably the largest piece ever blown by hand in the UK. The glass body is over 20mm thick and weights 8Kgs alone”.
